Consumer Warnings

With the economy in a slump, more people are turning towards water filtration instead of bottled or tap water. Great water filtration doesn’t have to be expensive. Cost under 10 cents a gallon for quality water is certainly possible.

Look for some type of certification. There are three generally recognized independent services that rate water quality. NSF (National Sanitation Foundation), Underwriters Laboratories, and the California Department of Health. The cost for these certifications are substantial, and they have to provide laboratory test data, and have their literature checked and verified for any false or misleading claims.

Avoid “purified” or “zero” water without trace minerals like magnesium, calcium and potassium. The best filters use “selective filtration” and leave the “good” minerals in the water.
